He is being transported to Rockingham County Jail in Brentwood, NH, as I type.
To serve a five day sentence.
Over a license plate.

That would be great. I posted Brad's Porc 411 summary.

I called the jail (603-679-2244) and they told me this address to write to inmates:
<Inmate's Name> 99 North Rd Brentwood, NH 03833
I'm getting a postcard in the mail today in hopes of it reaching him soon. He's really been down in the dumps lately and I'm sure this was like the cherry on the ice cream sundae.

He gave a very good explanation as to why he swapped the plates (couldn't afford new ones on a different vehicle, wanted his vehicle to be identifiable to him)... But it didn't matter.
I think vehicles being able to be identified is an important thing. In a free market, were I to own roadways, I would require it. I'm sure a company or two would specialize in vehicle identification and data basing.

I'm sure there will be several free market options for identifying people, property, cars, and whatever else needs to be identified. The ID of a car is important, especially if you have 2 identical cars parked next to each other and don't want the owners to dispute over who owns which. People need to be identified, for no other reason than to check credit/contract ratings, and something has to be done to maintain titles to real estate.

While Josh was making his arguments, he pointed out that he had registered his truck, but when it went into the shop, he transferred the plates to his car. That means that the state is still getting their money for all of the damage done to their precious infrastructure, because the damage will just be done by a different vehicle.
Unfortunately, he made this point at the defense stand instead of the witness stand. For that reason, the judge apparently was deaf to those words. The judge even pointed that out. Through their bizarre rules, such a thing makes sense. Absurd.

As Josh was being prepared for transport to jail, some of us had a disturbing chat with the prosecutor. I don't know his name, but I'll report when I find out. Barskey asked him why he was laughing when the judge sent Josh to jail. He had some inconsequential words, but then he said that Josh is a "free-stater".
Barskey said that Josh was a human, but this didn't seem to affect the prosecutor's attitude. Things got elevated, and Barskey was escorted out of the building. So I continued with this guy.
I asked him what he meant when he said that Josh was a Freestater. This prosecutor said "that's their philosophy. They don't want to give information to us to avoid the fine". He was talking about when the judge offered Josh the option of filling out a financial affidavit so he could get some kind of payment plan or community service option.
I tried to stay as calm as possible, but this guy was smiling and laughing at everything I said. Finally, he said, "This is an academic debate. You are about 25 years late for this". In other words, the ideas of sovereignty and independence were settled a generation ago, and his side came out the winner.
At least, that's what I presume he meant; at that point, I was escorted out by the two armed men and couldn't continue the discussion.
Another interesting (well, maybe not so interesting) observation. When we approached this smiling/laughing prosecutor, he was talking to the only defense attorney who showed up to the court that day. She handled most of the cases, supposedly defending her clients in the table opposite this prosecutor. As we were having a "conversation" with the prosecutor, he kept looking over at his friend and she laughed or rolled her eyes in unison with him.
So much for justice when both sides are on the same side. Against you.
