Calls are coming in over Porc411.

Sam Dodson, (SamIAm) was arrested at Keene district Court for recording without bureaucrat permission. He was then dragged off and beaten by court officers. Several callers report Sam screaming while being taken to a back room.

He continued to scream, once caller commented and mentioned Sam "being beaten back there" and not letting people watch.

The activists were them told to leave and many refused. Backup was called leading to what was described by one caller as "The entire Keene PD here". Reports indicate that the entire group was detained (legally). Several arrestest occured, including several activists physically being hauled out of hte place. At least one reporter was present from the Keene Sentinel; she was not detained. Once caller claims that Sam was being taken to the hospital.

Of those arrested for SURE are Sam, David Krouse and Tim Danforth but others were as well.

Manchester activists are arranging carpools to Keene right now, roughtly 2:05 pm EST. Anybody in Manchester who has a car and is willing to give rides to other activists are encouraged to call Porc411 to arrange as many ride-shares as possible.

Just got back. As of the time I left, there had been 5 activists arrested and hauled off: Sam, Patrick, Curt (Lumpy), David, and Tim. At least two more were issued summons: Nick and Richard. Sam was for video recording, the rest for refusing to leave the 2nd floor of the courthouse (the little lobby area just outside the courtroom, same place Dave Ridley was arrested.)

Patrick and Sam were both refusing to cooperate with the arresting officers and were carried out. They did cry out in pain multiple times, but from what I saw it seemed due to painful handling. I don't think there's any evidence for anyone being beaten, so let's not jump to that conclusion just yet. More than likely the sounds of pain came from the refusal to cooperate and/or going limp, and the less-than-gentle cops arresting them.

This was during Dave's court date? So Sam basically did the same thing that Dave got arrested for?

I arrived right after Sam was arrested so I missed it, but from what I heard, yes. This was the arraignment for Dave Ridley for his previous civil disobedience of video recording just outside the courtroom. And Sam was doing the exact same thing today and was arrested.

David Krouse is reporting that Sam didn't appear to have been beaten.

The early caller's claim that Sam was being taken to the hospital also seems to be false. He seems to still be in police custody.

Are you signed up for the Porc411 messages?

Since nobody else has addressed your concern yet, I'll at least tell you what I know. Sam is being held in Westmoreland until his arraignment tomorrow morning I believe. It seems there is a group of people going to see if he is ok, and if he is actually where they say he is. Unfortunately I am not in Keene, so I can only tell you what I've heard through the Qik videos and through Porc411. As soon as there is an update on Porc411 I'll let you know, unless someone closer to Sam has already contacted you via phone.

I'm sorry I can't help more.

Everything I've heard so far is that Sam may have received minor bruising from being pulled around on the floor or being handcuffed, but David Krouse, the last person to have seen him currently, said he looked ok and somewhat peaceful about the fact that he'd gotten arrested.

Good to hear that he is ok. Has anyone called Sam's dad yet? I'm sure he is very worried.

these cowards love their badge, they can hide behind it.  Someday, the badge won't mean much to MOST people and they won't have anything left to hide behind.

After today the badge might mean less to the average resident of Keene. Especially since the Keene Sentinel was out there, as long as they give the true story of how peaceful people were being harmed by these thugs.

Here's what I got from The Sentinel:

Several people arrested in incident at Keene District Court today

Updated April 13, 3:15 p.m.
By Sentinel Staff
Published: Monday, April 13, 2009

Several people were arrested and others were issued summonses in the Keene District Court lobby  today after allegedly refusing to leave the room.

Ian “Freeman” Bernard of the Free State Project  said 15 to 20 activists had flocked to the court to hear the arraignment of Dave Ridley. Ridley was arrested in March and charged with disorderly conduct, accused of refusing to turn off a video camera he’d brought to the arraignment of  a marijuana activist.

Ridley was arrested and charged before making it into the courtroom.

From the accounts of people affiliated with the Free State movement, history repeated itself Tuesday when Keene resident Samuel Dodson was accused of running his video camera  while in the district court lobby.

After his arrest, Dodson —under the eyes of police — appeared to be lying on the floor behind a conference room door. A sound like someone yelling came from behind the door, which prompted the activists at the scene to question what was happening and to criticize the police.

Keene police Sgt. Eliezer Rivera told people not affiliated with the   case to leave the room and said those who refused to do so would receive summonses. Many did so, but within minutes, police began either issuing summonses or handcuffing those who remained.

For the full story,  see Tuesday’s Sentinel.
