Calling the jail can result in a variety of responses from the bureaucrats there. Last night I encountered a helpful bureaucrat and a not-so-helpful one. Today, one guy in the classification dept pawned me off to the voicemail of someone he claimed was the "superintendent", but he was not. I then hit "0" and was taken to another bureaucrat who the passed me to the officer on duty who did reveal that Sam is still in their system as John Doe and that as he has not yet been classified. I asked if he was in a holding cell or in solitary and he claimed (after saying he couldn't reveal the info) that he was in a holding cell meaning he could be in with other intake prisoners....

I'll suggest regular visits to the jail to protest. And I have signs and a song to sing, if others can provide transportation and turnout.

Perhaps prior to Social Sundays? Maybe 3-3:30? I'm not sure if longer will make much of a difference. Anyone remember when shift change is?

I am going to type out a letter to Sam and mail it to the jail. I think he would enjoy having things to read.

Questionable as to whether he will receive it Orion, as they are listing him as John Doe at the moment. Though, it wouldn't hurt to try. You may want to call and ask how to get mail to him.

In regards to protests, I called the jail; here are their shifts:
7a-3p 3p-11p 11p-7a
So, maybe 2:45p on Sunday would be a good time? What do you think?

Daily might be overkill (then again, this is the State), but three or four times a week would probably be okay. We don't want him thinking we've forgotten.

*cries*
*wipes tears* Okay, what can I do. We're out of money for a while (*sigh* I hope for just a while...), so trips down there are an issue, but is there legal research I can work on? Is there something?? ANYthing?!?!

I just called the administration desk and asked how to contact Sam by mail. The bureaucrat told me to fill out the letter out as follows:
Sam Dodson c/o CCDOC 160 River Road Westmoreland, NH 03467
I asked specifically if it would be received by Sam, since he is listed as a John Doe. She said, "I don't know about a John Doe. I have a Sam Dodson listed here."

At this point he is in a holding cell, first floor, away from the windows. If they ever put him in population, THEN he could see us. At this point, you are relying on the COs to inform him of the outside goings-on. When I was in there, I had no idea anything went on outside. Though I certainly appreciated what the activists did when I got out. (Note, in order for him to be put in population, he'll need to be "classified". In order to have that happen, he'll need to be somewhat cooperative. Otherwise, he'll stay where he is or go into solitary, and I doubt there is a window there, but Russell, Kat, or Lauren might know for sure. I think one of them has been in there.)

Are they holding him indefinitely until cooperation?

I just wrote Sam a letter, but I am going to hold off on sending it until I know exactly where he will be. I don't want to send it and find out that he's been released before it can get to him.

Now you know the government only does that in Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo) on combative detainees. Surely not here in Keene, NH, United States of America.

the system will be effected by letters in ... and so will Sam
Someone will see you if you are outside ... even just out front. The word will eventually get around. Word takes longer to get to max (east block), but it will get there. The guys in 211 can see out front.
