(he never mentioned the "no purpose in life")
Actually, that's in the Sentinal too... so apparently he did say it.... So, he's saying Sam has given them a purpose in life? Something the "Department of Corrections" has failed to do? Imagine that... You know, that's exactly how I read it too - no matter how it was meant. I wasn't there (clearly) so who knows what tone of voice that was said in or what VanWickler really meant by it, but it's kinda like someone who "finds jesus", you know? I think what Sam is doing is an inspirational and excellent thing. It is my understanding that many of the guards are asking him questions about liberty too. It is hard to be around a polite, unassuming person doing something you don't understand and not ask questions. What Sam is doing works. The sole reason it is not done more often is how personally disruptive going to jail is, and commitment both mentally and physically. By mental commitment I mean that you must be at peace with others,(you cannot do what Sam has done and be a hateful badass at the same time), and of course have a clear idea of what you want to accomplish or focus on.

I'm taking care of ordering a few books Sam has requested - can someone bring some cash for his commissary with them during next visitation?

Last Sunday, Sam requested US$20.00 in his commissary account. We added US$45.00. Did the jailers not give it to him? I still have the receipt.

How revealing that the ones with all the supposed integrity and honor offer their caged clients (including those waiting for trial or innocent until proven guilty) the highest price in the land, the worst variety and the worst service, in a locked off world where they hold all the power. To quote Sam, "there is a better way."

The latest update:
I got a reply from my latest filing in District Court. Judge Burke lowered Sam's bail to $5,000 personal recognizance (which means he doesn't have to pay any cash, he signs a bond), but still upon the conditions that he gives his "legal" address, and signs the order with his "legal" name.
I'm sure y'all know what that means. Still tryin....

Judge Burke lowered it to only a bond, but still insisted on Sam giving his legal name and legal address, which essentially equals absolutely NO change. Are we supposed to be grateful for Judge Burke's latest ruling? Should we not think that his actions are "distasteful" to keep someone behind bars, INDEFINATELY, until they play Simon Sez, regardless of their supposed rights? I guess so. Because whatever the Judge says, is "the law" and no one can blame him because he's just "doing his job." I can't help but wonder about the possibility of a bank busting CIVIL LAWSUIT for Judge Burke and the Corporation he works with.

okay, this post may seem out of left field, but follow me till the end, and i promise it'll make sense.
i was watching the movie "toys" the other day, and robin william's character made this joke about being serious, stating: "not serious? i'm serious! like, 'save the whales: win interesting prizes'... i started that."
that got me thinking... the 'prize' that sam's dad is offering is kinda the same: "save sam: win interesting prizes". so, while i don't know the legality of this idea, along with recruiting youngsters to FTL, you could also open up the 'free sam sign contest' to them as well. i mean, if you offer a couple hundred dollars as prize money, i don't think teenagers really need to know what the situation is to want to make a kick arse 'free sam' sign and try to win some money (though, it would be awesome teach them about the situation and why it's not good). but then you'll have a TON of 'Free Sam!' signs all over the town.
just a thought.

Nice idea. I’d just provide an explanation of the situation in the advertising materials for the contest, complete with links to all the blogs, news stories, &c.. People who are interested in seeing what it’s all about will do so on their own. I’m also reasonably sure that such a contest is fully legal unless people are required to pay into it in order to win something. This is why you always see that “no purchase necessary!” disclaimer on so many contests; provided that entry into a contest is free, it’s not considered a regulated lottery, raffle, or similar.

Can some sort of certificate from a mail-order ministry or whatnot under "Sam Iamovsky" or like that be obtained?

Give Root the boot and get Lew Rockwell or Karen DeCoster on to comment on Sam's kidnapping by the men in robes and fancy badges.

No kidding, what in the world does Root have to contribute to this show? If nothing else, give Sam his time slot and vice versa.
